US Army Special Forces, commonly known as Green Berets, are special units of the American land forces, the roots of which date back to 1952, and Col. Aaron Banek. Originally, the unit numbered approximately 2,500 soldiers and recruited World War II veterans, former or active US Rangers and airborne troops. As early as 1953, the unit was split into two divisions, one of which remained in the USA and the other was directed to West Germany. In 1957, a third branch was created, separated from the unit stationed in the USA, which was directed to Okinawa. In 2012, Zielone Berety had a total of seven branches. Officially, the soldiers of the US Army Special Forces took part in many conflicts after 1945, first of all: in the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975), in both wars in the Persian Gulf (1990-1991 and 2003) or in the course of operations in Afghanistan (since 2001). Soldiers trying to get into this unit go through a long and difficult training cycle including, among others: reconnaissance elements, organizing ambushes, sniper training, parachute training or the SERE course. By default, the US Army Special Forces unit consists of 12 soldiers during the implementation of the task.
